Evolution of profits for the top 250 ICT firms, by sectors from 2000 to 2005

The 2006 OECD ICT Outlook shows that the ICT sector faced a severe downturn in 2001-2002, but is now in a growth phase since 2003. The telecommunications services sector had the most trouble, mainly in wireline since the wireless sectors was in growth mode. 2005 was the most profitable year in the last 6 years for almost all the ICT sectors of the study, which is composed of the top international 250 ICT firms. Telecom services is the leader while the IT services has the lowest profitability of the ICT sector.
